The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. V (MGB R.O.-V) has recently conducted an Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign on community organizing, technical assistance and social preparation training of the Peolpes’ Small-Scale Mining organization within the Siruma White Clay Mineral Reservation.

The IEC was attended by residents of 11 barangays comprising the Siruma White Clay Mineral Reservation in Siruma and Tinambac, Camarines Sur, the Municipal Planning and Development Officer, MENR Officer, DENR-V, Cooperative Development Authority, and Small-Scale Miners in the area. The activity aims to inform, train, and prepare the community for the development of a Minahang Bayan in Barangays Mabuhay and La Purisima, Siruma, Camarines Sur.

Siruma White Clay Mineral Reservation was promulgated through Proclamation No. 583 signed on June 10, 1933. It was initially known as Kaolin Reservation due to the type of clay in the area.
