Amid the surge in coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in the Region, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. V (MGB R.O.-V) is organizing for the conduct of its 5th National Schools Maintenance program dubbed as “Brigada Eskwela” in Malobago Elementary School in Malobago, Manito, Albay.

Due to the limited movement and health protocols to be observed, this year’s “Brigada Eskwela”, will be simpler yet meaningful. Where one operating mine in the Region namely: Mt. Labo Exploration and Development Corporation in Labo, Camarines Norte had donated cash in the amount of Php20,000.00 for the repair of the roofing and other facilities of the school.

This year’s regional theme is “Handang Paaralan para sa Handang Pasukan” which will focus on promoting collaboration for safe living and addressing social issues in schools, at home, and in the community.

“Brigada Eskwela” is similar to the Filipino spirit of “bayanihan” is an annual weeklong activity of DepEd which draws the community’s participation to make public schools: school-ready for the students for the opening of classes though face-to-face classes are still not allowed. It is to be noted that Pag-Asa National High School, Malabog National High School, Daraga North Central School and Lacag National High School are among the schools that this Office had assisted during the previous years. #BrigadaEskwela21 #MineResponsibility
