The Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA) again hold its 66th Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference (ANMSEC) at CAP-John Hay Trade and Cultural Center, Baguio City on November 19-22, 2017 with this year’s theme: “66 Years of Responsible Mining: Culture, Care, Change”.

Representatives from the various sectors in the mining industry such as partners, members, mining contractor and permit holders, mining students, mining practitioners and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) employees attended the said event.

One of the highlights of the conference was the national launching of MGB’s #MineResponsibility. This is in relation to the launching of the responsible mining campaign last November 8, 2019 at Elements at Centris, Quezon City. The Objective of the nationwide Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign is to change the perception of an ordinary Juan Dela Cruz on mining; on the wide-ranging benefits and economic potential of the country’s mineral resources; and promote viable, sustainable, environmentally-responsible, and socially-oriented mining programs and policies.

Along this line, MGB presented three (3) different online advertisements and infomercials about mining entitled: “Kutsara”; “Minsan Kitang Minahan”; and “A Documentary on Responsible Mining” that can also be viewed on the Office’s social media accounts.

On its third day, the Minerals Industry Symposium was held where delegates from different mining companies, government agency, mining engineering students and practitioners actively participated and showed their support.
